From: The Board & Staff of Perkasie Regional Authority
For the last one hundred and ten years the water and sewer services for the Borough of Perkasie have been provided by independent bodies, starting with the Perkasie Water Company in 1895. In 1955, when it was decided that the private companies were not improving the systems to meet then current standards, the Borough of Perkasie created the Perkasie Borough Authority as an independent agency to operate the water and sewer systems.
In the 50 plus years since the formation of the Authority, the numerous community members who served on the Authority Board have recognized that water and sewer issues were unique, time consuming and specialized. The Authority not only serves the Borough of Perkasie, but also customers in East Rockhill Township, Hilltown Township, and most recently West Rockhill Township, effectively and efficiently. In 2011, the Authority Board decided a name change would reflect a more regionalized approach. A Resolution was approved by the Borough of Perkasie Council to officially change the name to Perkasie Regional Authority, which became effective September 2011.
