Well Number 4 - Three Mile Run Road: No longer used as a production
well. This facility treats all of the water produced from
the Three Mile Run well field and is official entry point
101 for water testing prior to entry into the system.
Well Number
5 - Rockhill Road: This well was drilled in 1949 at a depth
of 303'. The well was rehabilitated in 1997 and is equipped
with a 20 horsepower pump which is set at 240' below the surface
of the ground. This well is capable of producing 175 gallons
of water per minute.
Well Number
6 - Rockhill Road: This well was drilled in 1965 at a depth
of 300'. The well was rehabilitated in 1999 and is equipped
with a 40 horsepower pump which is set at 260' below the surface
of the ground. This well is capable of producing 350 gallons
of water per minute. It is our best production well in the
well field and is equipped with a standby generator in case
of power outages.
Well Number
9 - Rockhill Road: This well was drilled in 1977 at a depth
of 375'. The well is equipped with a 15 horsepower pump which
is set at a depth of 250' below the surface of the ground.
Our poorest producer, the well is only capable of pumping
75 gallons per minute.
Well Number
10 - 220 Spring Lane: This well was drilled in 1978 at a depth
of 400'. The well is equipped with a 20 horsepower pump set
at 225' below the surface of the ground. This source is contaminated
with a volatile organic compound (VOC) known as Tricholoethene
or TCE. This requires the water to be treated prior to entry
into the system. The treatment is performed by pumping the
water up into a tower and forcing air up through the water.
This releases the TCE and leaves the water acceptable for
public use. The treated water enters a clear well where it
is pumped into the system via a second 20 horsepower pump
at a rate of 180 gallons per minute. Well 10 is official entry
point 102 for water testing prior to entry into the system.
Well Number
11 - 640 E. Walnut Street: This well was drilled in 1986 at
a depth of 400'. The well is equipped with a 60 horsepower
vertical turbine pump set at 260' below the surface of the
ground. Well 11 is our best producer pumping 500 gallons per
minute. The well also returns to artesian (overflow) condition
when pumping stops. Well 11 is official entry point 103 for
water testing prior to entry into the system.
Well Number
12 - Callowhill Road: Located along the Dorchester Bike Path
at the Perkasie Borough/East Rockhill border, this well was
drilled in 1996 to a depth of 450'. The well is equipped with
a 75 horsepower pump set at 260' below the surface of the
ground. This well can produce over 600 gallons per minute
but has recently become contaminated with TCE. We are exploring
our options as how to best address this situation.
2 Million
Gallon Storage Tank - 1503 Park Avenue: Constructed in 1986,
this tank provides fire service and pressure to the "High
Service Area" of the Authority. Water is supplied to the tank
via the Three Mile Run well field.
1 Million
Gallon Reservoir: Located at the intersection of Ridge Road
and Ridge Avenue, this facility was constructed in 1895. A
rubber liner and cover was installed in the mid 1970's. The
facility is supplied by the Perkiomen well field and via control
valves from the 2 million gallon tank. The reservoir provides
pressure and fire protection to the "Low Service Area" of
the Authority.
